The House of Black was featured heavily on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Brody King challenged Jon Moxley for the interim world championship in a hard-hitting affair. While Malakai Black appeared in a video package, Buddy Matthews was notable in his absence.

AEW has had a rash of injuries that have kept major stars off TV for several weeks. Fortunately, Buddy Matthews is not among them. Buddy simply had an overseas booking.

In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Matthews is home in Australia. Buddy is doing a tour for the World Series Wrestling promotion. That meant he was unavailable for this week’s Dynamite.

“Buddy Matthews wasn’t on TV this week with the House of Black because he’s home in Australia doing a tour for World Series Wrestling.”

It was previously reported that Buddy Matthews is working through shoulder injury. He noted the same on social media. Given that he has been working in Australia, it doesn’t appear to be anything that will keep him on the shelf for any extended period.

Buddy Matthews should be back on AEW television soon. Fans who were concerned that he is having complications due to his shoulder should be relieved to know that he’s working through it while rehabbing. The last thing Tony Khan needs is another wrestler missing extended time with an injury.
