Jim Ross has been the voice of professional wrestling to many fans for decades. A large portion of his storied career was spent working for WWE. Ross has been with AEW as a commentator since 2019, but some fans are ready for him to move on.

JR has frequently had trouble with calling wrestlers by their WWE-appointed names. At least once or twice per show, he has a little flub. He has called Bryan Danielson “Daniel Bryan,” several times, for instance.

For most, that’s not a huge deal. Fans make the same mistake all the time after being used to referring to someone by a specific name for years. There is a group of fans, however, who are so offended by the botches that they are calling for AEW to fire the legendary announcer after repeatedly calling Claudio Castagnoli “Cesaro” during last night’s broadcast.

“Ima just say this….Jim Ross needs to retire!! Love and respect all he’s done for the biz but how many times can you call a performer by their WWE name since they’ve signed to AEW? I heard him call Claudio “Cesaro” at least 6x tonight!”

“I think I just heard Jim Ross call him Cesaro LMAO”

“jim ross needs to give it up”

“Jim Ross called Claudio, Cesaro twice, and Taz called Ruby Soho, Ruby Riott…..all in the span of an hour.”

Tony Khan is not likely to fire Jim Ross over the mistakes. That doesn’t mean wrestling fans haven’t been noticing them. We will have to see if JR can get it under control going forward, as AEW looks to shake up the commentary booth starting with this week’s episode of Rampage.
