The Authors of Pain, Gzim Selmani and Sunny Dhinsa, own Wrestling Entertainment Series (WES). It was formally launched on May 13 by former WWE tag team. The inaugural show of the brand-new wrestling promotion has apparently been cancelled.

The event was publicized just a few weeks before it was scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom. The duo booked the 10,000-seater Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England for Saturday, June 4, and the event will be broadcast live on FITE TV. The promotion’s description said it was “the future of sports entertainment.”

FITE announced this weekend’s event on Twitter last night, but Chelsea Green of IMPACT Wrestling, who is booked for the show, responded by stating that it had been cancelled. While nothing has been confirmed via FITE or WES’ official social media platforms, on May 30, the promotion did retweet a post from Lucha Libre Online, who were pushing tickets for the first broadcast.

As of this writing, the event is still listed on the official Motorpoint Arena website, with tickets ranging from £27.69 to £273.68 still available. In the main event for the World Championship, Adam “The Titan” Scherr, formerly known as Braun Strowman, will compete against mixed martial artist Alistair Overeem. Lina Fanene (Nia Jax) and CJ Perry (Lana) are poised to return to the squared circle for the first time since leaving Vince McMahon’s business last year in the WES Women’s Championship co-main event.

The Authors of Pain will also make a comeback to the arena under the name The Legion of Pain, reuniting with Paul Ellering after their time as NXT Tag Team Champions in 2017. They’ll go up against Westin Blake and Steve Maclin’s crew. Former NXT Champion Killer Kross (Karrion Kross), two-time IMPACT Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo, JONAH, Tenille Dashwood, Madison Rayne, and Dirty Dango (Fandango) are among the wrestlers scheduled to fight.

Jonathan Coachman, a former “Raw” commentator, and Matt Rehwoldt, a current IMPACT Wrestling broadcaster, have been signed to call the show. Wrestling Entertainment Series claimed in a first press statement sent out during the debut that they had a “action-packed” itinerary in place for the rest of 2022, including dates around Europe and the Middle East, with destinations still to be revealed.
