Ric Flair is coming out of retirement, but the same is not true for Ricky Steamboat, because The Dragon had an offer for that match, but turned it down. Gerald Brisco seemingly appreciates Ricky Steamboat’s wish to not come out of his retirement to fight Ric Flair at Starrcast in July.
Brisco posted on Twitter, “I’m really happy Ricky Steamboat has some pride left. Always been a smart man.” It seems that Bisco supports Ricky’s choice to stay retired.
Steamboat was supposed to partner with Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson to take on Flair and AEW tag team FTR in a six-man tag match. However, Steamboat decided to decline the match, citing his age and did not want to disappoint his fans.
As of now, no replacement for Steamboat has been named, but Flair has promoted a Four Horsemen reunion on Twitter. Either way, Steamboat is very happy about his decision.
Gerald Brisco was an early rival of Steamboat when the duo wrestled for Jim Crockett Promotions back in 1980. The two of them have met multiple times in tag team action with Brisco and his brother, Jack Brisco, taking on Steamboat and his partner Jay Youngblood.
I really happy Ricky Steamboat has some pride left always been a smart man.
