Cody Rhodes left AEW back in February and fans were certainly surprised by this. Prior to his exit, Rhodes was one of the highlights of AEW television. He helped put over numerous talents during his time there, including the likes of Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin, MJF and many more. Rhodes also doesn’t want his legacy to be solely that he started AEW.
Rhodes was almost always booed in AEW during the tail end of his run in the company. Fans simply wanted him to turn heel no matter what, but that never happened. Rhodes also does not want to change a thing about that.
While speaking to Justin Barasso of Sports Illustrated, Cody Rhodes talked about his legacy in pro wrestling. Rhodes stated that he does not want his legacy to sole to be that he started AEW.
“I don’t want my wrestling legacy solely to be that I helped start an alternative wrestling company. I’m really proud of that and I want it to be part of my legacy, but what I’ve always wanted is what I’m after right now. I’m getting a second chance at that, and that is my entire focus. I want to do this for my whole family. My wife, my daughter, my sister Teil, my mom. If I can’t hand this title to my dad, it would be wonderful to hand it to my mom.”
Cody Rhodes also thinks he’s the best pro wrestler by a large margin. Rhodes has a lot he wants to accomplish in WWE and he will make sure he achieves his goals. We’ll have to see how successful he will be in WWE.
