Joey Janela was one of AEW’s earliest talent pick-ups. “The Bad Boy” saw his use in the company slowly trickle down to nothing over time. Despite a well-received feud with Sonny Kiss on AEW’s YouTube shows, Janela never got the exposure to become a top star.

Rumors of him being unsafe in the ring were squashed by AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page. It appears that the two parties had just decided to go their separate ways. Joey has been working independents and has been especially active in Game Changer Wrestling. Janela recently confirmed that he would not be renewing his AEW contract.

Early this morning, Joey Janela posted a tweet confirming that his AEW contract officially expires on Sunday. Joey had some fun with the news, admitting that he spent a lot of the money he earned on lobster. Janela has no regrets.

“Sunday my AEW contract expires, & I have the same car I had in 2019 before it started. Got me thinking what the f*ck did I spend my money on?

I spent it on f*cking lobster, lots and lots of f*cking lobster aka Did my first contract absolutely 100% correctly!!”

Janela noted that he is still driving the same car he had since before AEW started. Joey enjoyed the finer things in life instead. Now that he is established in GCW, Joey is ready to move on from the company that financed his major lobster habit.
