Joey Janela recently announced that he will not be renewing his contract with All Elite Wrestling. The Bad Boy is going to look into other endeavors in the world of pro wrestling. Joey has been having strong run in the upstart GCW promotion and has always had a strong independent following.
Many AEW fans never took to Joey Janela. Fans built hype around the idea that Joey is an unsafe worker in the ring. One fan on Twitter accused him of delivering a rough “potato” to “Hangman” Adam Page that busted him open.
Janela received some words of encouragement from the AEW World Champion in a reply to his tweet. Page apologized and said he has nothing but respect for Janela. Hangman hopes to see him again somewhere in the future.
“apologies again, nothing but love and respect. best of luck and ill see you down the line”
Joey Janela responded to the fan to explain that the metal in his knee brace cut Page’s head when he popped him up for a powerbomb. Joey said mainstream wrestling fans exist in a “toxic echo chamber of BS.” There are plenty of wrestlers who would agree.
Joey Janela is having plenty of success doing his thing. The character and style are not for everybody. The Bad Boy can’t help just being himself.
