Kenny Omega had a fantastic run as AEW World Champion before taking a break to deal with various health issues. The Cleaner is not expected to be back any time in the immediate future, but that doesn’t mean 2022 is out of the question. Omega recently told a fan that he wouldn’t need much time to establish himself as wrestler of the year.

The former champion said that the bar is very low for pro wrestling right now. That will likely ruffle some feathers. Kenny is confident that even after several surgeries and tons of nagging ailments, he is still the best in the world.

The fan tweeted that he thinks Kenny Omega will still win wrestler of the year while only working half a year. Omega replied, saying if he came back in December, he could win such an award. Kenny doesn’t think the rest of the industry is putting up much of a fight.

“The bar is shockingly low in 2022. I could show up in December and still win via landslide.”

Of course, any “wrestler of the year” award is completely subjective. It depends on which organization gives it out. Many people are not fans of Omega’s style of wrestling, and that is perfectly fine. It’s a matter of opinion.

It is still a very bold claim by the Best Bout Machine. Time will tell when Kenny Omega finally returns to AEW. Despite believing that the bar for the rest of wrestling is low, Kenny believes he is going to raise it significantly upon his return.
