FTR are set to collide on next week’s AEW Dynamite in an Owen Hart men’s tournament qualifying match. The announcement surprised fans, who never expected to see the two go head to head without a storyline built around a split. Dax said it would be the only time the bout would ever happen.

Those who are wondering what led to the unique matchup between tag partners are not alone. The reigning ROH & Triple A tag champions were the ones who wanted to see the match happen. It took some convincing for Tony Khan to get on board.

Dax and Cash appeared on the Wrestling Perspective podcast recently where they chatted about the upcoming match. Harwood said the idea was their own. The team had to fight with Tony Kahn to make it happen.

“That was our idea, totally. We had to fight for it, but that was completely our idea.”

FTR has been unapologetic about their love for Bret Hart. It makes sense that they would want to pay special tribute to his brother, Owen. The tournament seems like the perfect place for a once-in-a-lifetime match.

Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler will go face to face on this week’s AEW Dynamite from Philadelphia. The shocking matchup should bring a lot of eyes to the tournament itself. It will be interesting to see how things play out as FTR goes one on one next week.
