FTR recently fired their manager, Tully Blanchard. The team said things were not working out, even though Dax and Cash respect their former mentor. The team then entered into a storyline where they will be feuding with The Young Bucks. There have been some teases that FTR might have a new manager sometime soon.

Fans have been keeping an eye out for hints about Bret Hart on AEW television. The promotion has a tournament coming up in honor of his late brother, Owen Hart. FTR are huge fans of Bret and the feeling is mutual. The stars could be aligning for at least a short-term affiliation.

Dave Meltzer talked about the possibilities for Bret Hart in AEW on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio. It is not a sure thing, but Tony Khan would love to bring Bret in for at least an appearance. It could lead to a longer stint as the manager of FTR.

“There was a definite tease of Bret Hart. I don’t know that he’s coming in, but with an Owen Hart Tournament… Here’s the thing. I’m sure AEW wants Bret Hart for whatever he would do. I don’t know what he can do or how much he wants to do. The idea of Bret Hart being there for an appearance, he’s already done that before.

That wouldn’t surprise me at all. I don’t know about him managing them [FTR] on a weekly basis, but maybe. It’s certainly not something I would rule out because it’s something that Tony Khan would want to do. I know that all those guys there… FTR are giant Bret Hart fans. Like giant Bret hart fans.

So, we’ll see what happens. But, obviously, Young Bucks and FTR are going to have a match soon with FTR as the babyfaces. So the firing of Tully feels like a babyface turn and of course, with Bret, that would be a babyface situation because Bret’s not coming in to be a heel.”

The finals of the Owen Hart tournament are set to take place at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view this May in Las Vegas. Owen Hart’s wife, Martha will be in attendance. It would make all the sense in the world for Bret Hart to show up and honor his brother. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Bret in AEW.
