Ricky Starks’ raw talent as a pro wrestler is undeniable and has a bright future ahead of him in AEW. He is currently the FTW Champion and is one of the mainstays of AEW television. He is also very outspoken when it comes to the pro wrestling product.
Ricky Starks recently joined SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio to discuss numerous topics. On AEW Rampage tonight, Starks will face Swerve Strickland in a one-on-one match for the FTW World Championship. Starks emphasized that he already has the upper hand on paper.
Overall, Starks stated that making the FTW World Championship a lot more meaningful has been an objective of his, and he has finally reached the stage that Taz trusts him with the gold. Starks also disclosed that he does not travel with the actual FTW World Championship, but instead leaves it in the hands of All Elite Wrestling production.
I don’t travel with it. I make sure that production keeps it in a locked case in one of the velvet bags. When I have had to travel with it to like Universal, Orlando, I’m very very protective of it. So no, I’m not doing anything nasty with it like some of these people are. I just have a little bit more respect for it.
He is also is constantly compared to The Rock, a fact which surprises him. Especially when it comes to the way he dresses and his mannerisms and promo skills. The comparisons are certainly plausible according to many. Stars previously stated that he considers himself homegrown AEW talent and not NWA, which led to a lot of discussion among fans.
