Keith Lee had an amazing run in NXT as he was both the NXT and North American Champion. Fans expected similar results for his main roster run but those dreams were dashed in the end. Adam Cole also helped Keith Lee join AEW.
After being given the Bearcat Lee gimmick which failed to get over with fans for good reason, Keith Lee was released by WWE last year. This certainly came as a shock to fans and pro wrestlers alike.
Lee then made his debut in AEW a while ago and fans were delighted to see him again. While speaking on AEW Unrestricted podcast, Keith Lee talked about his decision to sign with AEW. Lee revealed that Adam Cole convinced him to join the company after talking with him.
“There are a lot of people in this industry that you can just trust or get along with at certain levels. But I really like Adam Cole as a person. His testimony for his happiness here was something that made it a little easier. I think that in the grand scheme of things, business, when we got to speaking about that, made sense for me and my plans. That’s something that makes it a little easier when you get along with somebody and it also fits your plan and what you’re wanting to do in life. It just helps. So those talks were actually easier than I thought that they would be so it kind of made the decision that much easier.”
Keith Lee had a tremendous showing during the Face Of The Revolution Ladder match at AEW Revolution on March 6th but was not able to win it in the end. AEW is currently building a feud between Lee and Ricky Starks as well. We’ll have to see if Lee will achieve greatness in the company or not.
