After what seems like ages, WWE Superstar Lita will finally be appearing in a singles bout as she is set to challenge Becky Lynch for the RAW Women’s Championship at the Elimination Chamber event. This will be Lita’s first singles bout since 2006, and if reports are to be believed, it might also be her last for a while to come. It seems that WWE has no long-term plans for Lita following the Elimination Chamber event.

The former Champion recently spoke to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, wherein she indicated that the promotion does not really have future plans for her but mentioned that could change at the drop of the hat.

Currently, I was just asked to do this match. I know everything can change in WWE at the drop of a hat. There is a lot of opportunity here, and just because there are no current plans doesn’t mean there won’t be. This is also allowing me to focus on the task at hand, which is to put on a killer match and not focus on anything else except Elimination Chamber.

This is certainly disheartening news for fans who have waited for a comeback since Lita’s 2006 retirement. However, not all hope is lost. As Lita noted, “just because there are no current plans doesn’t mean there won’t be.”
