AEW Dynamite made its debut in October 2019 and since then has worked hard to provide an alternate product to what fans see in WWE. For the most part, they have succeeded, but there is still lot of room for improvement.

There is no doubt that AEW has a very deep and diverse roster of talented in-ring performers from all over the world, incorporating various styles of pro wrestling. At the same time, WWE also has a deep roster with some of the best pro wrestlers in the world.

While speaking on his Grilling JR Podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross talked about the depth of AEW and WWE’s roster, as he has worked in both companies. He explained how pro wrestling rosters in modern-day pro wrestling is different from the rosters in the past.

“There’s so much depth in AEW today and so much depth in WWE today that it’s hard to blame negatives on one person,” Ross said, when comparing today’s wrestling landscape to that of the 1990s. “This is truly more of an ensemble cast era than it is the one shining star. There’s no [Hulk] Hogan’s, no Stone Cold’s. There’s no major stud pulling the wagon, to a degree I should say. It’s a different world, people want volume.

You always have to have some depth. That’s the one beautiful thing I’ll say about the two big companies today, AEW and WWE, they’ve got depth, they’ve got bodies, they’ve got a huge cast they can draw from.”

Tony Khan also recently boasted that AEW made the pro wrestling business hotter. We will have to wait and see how many talents Tony Khan will keep on signing to AEW in the coming months.
