Mercedes Moné just did it again. AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2026 went down at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, and the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament ended with Moné standing tall for the second year in a row.
Mercedes faced Maya World in the finals, with the winner earning a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In. Moné won the tournament in 2025, but came up short against Toni Storm at All In. This year, she made sure she got herself another shot.
Maya World came into the match as the surprise story of the tournament after upsetting Athena to reach the finals. Commentary also brought up that Maya recently lost her brother, who was the reason she got into pro wrestling, making the match even more emotional.
Once the bell rang, Mercedes kept the pressure on Maya for most of the match. Maya fought back and won over the crowd with every comeback, especially after kicking out of the Money Maker.
That kickout had fans exploding for Maya, and she kept pushing with a series of big moves, including a moonsault that nearly got the job done. Mercedes kicked out, and the match kept rolling.
Maya later trapped Moné in the Statement Maker, but Mercedes found a way out. Then Moné turned things around, locked Maya in the Statement Maker herself, and forced the tap out. With that, Mercedes Moné became the 2026 Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner, giving her back-to-back Owen Hart Cup victories.
That puts Moné in rare air. The tournament has become one of AEW’s biggest paths to the top of the women’s division, and Mercedes just became the first woman to win it two years in a row.
Previous winners include Britt Baker in 2022, Willow Nightingale in 2023, Mariah May in 2024, and Mercedes Moné in 2025. Now Moné adds 2026 to her list and heads right back to All In with another shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship.
Mercedes already had her chance last year and failed to finish the job. Now she gets another one, and this time there are no excuses. She won the tournament again, she survived Maya World, and now All In is waiting.
All In 2026 takes place Sunday, August 30, at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Mercedes Moné will walk in with another Owen Hart Cup win behind her, and now the only thing left is whether she can finally turn that tournament win into the AEW Women’s World Championship.
