Johnny Knoxville showed up on WWE SmackDown to promote the new Jackass: Forever movie. During his time as a guest, he threw Sami Zayn over the top rope. This qualified Knoxville to compete in the upcoming men’s Royal Rumble match.

Sami and Johnny have been trading barbs online since the incident. Johnny even got to deal with Paul Heyman. The WWE Universe has been looking forward to seeing what will happen when the two meet again in the ring. Those who were hoping for a long-term feud may be disappointed.

WrestleVotes has reported that Knoxville’s Royal Rumble involvement will be a one-off. The Jackass star is not expected to return for further dates. That means his involvement with WrestleMania is off the table.

“Source states Johnny Knoxville’s Royal Rumble involvement is slated to be Rumble only & done on Saturday. However, WWE is indeed working on another celebrity appearance for WrestleMania. I asked who & couldn’t get a name. Either b/c it’s “top secret” (unlikely) or it’s undecided.”

It will be interesting to see if WWE follows through with their planned celebrity appearance at WrestleMania. The event has always been built around an association with mainstream stars. Vince McMahon no doubt has a few in mind.

Johnny Knoxville’s run in WWE will ultimately be short lived. Sami Zayn has been having fun with the storyline. After Saturday, Knoxville will ride off into the sunset. Time will tell if he ever returns to professional wrestling.
