Virgil Thinks WALTER Should Be Embarrassed Of His Gunther Name Change

WALTER had been a dominant force in WWE ever since he made his debut back in January 2019. The former NXT UK Champion is also the longest-reigning champion in modern WWE. Many WWE Superstars want piece of him, but now they will go after the man with a new name.

Many fans were concerned after it was revealed WWE copyrighted the name Gunther Stark, as it was related to someone who actually served on one of Hitler’s U-Boats. Unfortunately, their worst fears came true in the worst way possible.

On this weeks episode of NXT 2.0, WALTER squared off against Roderick Strong in a singles match. After defeating Strong, WALTER revealed that he is now called Gunther. He did not reveal a last name, but fans were still plenty upset.

Virgil took to Twitter and uploaded a photo of himself with WALTER, where he stated that he thinks WALTER should be embarrassed for not fighting harder to prevent his name from being changed.

Walter you need to grow a pair. Seriously you should be embarrassed. Even I who was humiliated as a slave I should have fought harder but this is today. You should know better man. I wish I charged you more for this pic when you begged me for it in the first place.

Fans were simply outraged WWE would change WALTER’s name to something so stereotypical, but it has been done and fans will simply have to accept it.

The irony of this statement is not lost on us. After all, Virgil’s WWE name was literally a rib on Dusty Rhodes.
