AEW presented Battle of the Belts on Saturday night, but Cody Rhodes could not defend the AEW TNT Title as scheduled. The American Nightmare was taken out of action due to COVID protocols, and that left a very unique match in Charlotte.

Cody Rhodes couldn’t make it, so his brother Dustin Rhodes filled in. The Natural battled Sammy Guevara with the winner becoming the Interim TNT Champion. This was considered the crowing of a new champion.

Rhodes and Guevara had a fierce battled that included Sammy hitting some dangerous moves and telling a story about having a hut leg. Dustin also nailed an incredible Crossroads for a near fall. This match was highly competitive as each man kicked out of the other’s finishing moves.

Finally, Dustin Rhodes hit two Crossroads, but when he went for a third, Guevara kicked him and then they took each other out with a double clothesline. Then Sammy Guevara scored a quick pin for the win.

Odds are Cody Rhodes will be back very soon and we will have a title unification situation. Only time will tell what Tony Khan does with this situation. Keep checking back with Ringside News for more updates.
