Eddie Kingston made his AEW debut back in July of 2020, where he competed against Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship during his open challenge. While he was unsuccessful in the match, Kingston impressed many and signed with the company. It seems Kingston wants to do away with the old mindset of pro wrestling.

Kingston quickly cemented himself as one of the best talkers in AEW as his promos are known to be from the heart and very natural. He is also very passionate when it comes to the pro wrestling world.

While speaking with Yahoo! Sports, Eddie Kingston admitted that back in the day, wrestlers went about the wrong way when it came to dealing with their mental issues and also physical pain. Kingston mentioned how wrestlers he knew took their lives in the past and added how he wants to break away from the old school mindset of hiding one’s pain and issues.

“I do things because I think they’re right. Not because other people think they are right, but it’s what I feel and what I feel needs to be said in the moment. You don’t need to agree with me, you don’t need to like me, you don’t need to respect me, but I’m going to do it.

We’ve tried the old way, we’ve lost a lot of people because we did things the wrong way. I’ve lost a lot of friends who have overdosed from drugs because they were down and out, didn’t think they could get help. I’ve lost a couple of friends to suicide because they thought they were alone and they took their lives. We’ve done the old way. Let’s try and break out of that now and save peoples’ lives instead of just pushing it down the whole time.”

Eddie Kingston is now feuding with 2Point0 in AEW and somehow Chris Jericho got involved in the fray as well. It remains to be seen how their feud will progress in the coming weeks.
