Fenix and Penta El Zero M form one of the hottest tag teams in All Elite Wrestling. The Lucha Brothers entered last night’s Dynamite as the promotion’s Tag Team Champions. Fenix suffered scary injury during their title defense against the Jurassic Express.

Luchasaurus hit a chokeslam on the outside through a table on Fenix. Rey landed awkwardly and his arm was bent completely backwards at the elbow. Fenix was seen on camera screaming for help as the match continued.

The ending was rushed and Jungle Boy was able to roll up Penta to win the titles. AEW showed the replay of the gruesome injury several times before the match concluded. It was clear that Fenix was in bad shape. On last night’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer gave an update on the injury. Alvarez said Fenix will most likely require surgery.

“I saw it and I was like, I can’t even rewind it. Then they showed a replay. So, horrible, gruesome injury. He was taken to the hospital. I was told the feeling was he’s probably going to need surgery.”

Meltzer then speculated that the nature of the injury to Fenix was a dislocated elbow. The luchador was in incredible pain on the outside from the second he crashed into the floor. Jungle Boy had a look of concern on his face as they finished the bout.

The injury to Rey Fenix was an unfortunate way for the Jurassic Express to win their first gold in AEW. The Lucha Brothers were enjoying a fantastic run as champions. The entire staff at Ringside News is wishing a quick and complete recovery for Fenix. Hopefully we will see him in action again soon after this unfortunate accident.
