It is easy to forget sometimes that Sammy Guevara is only 28 years old. The AEW star has already enjoyed a stellar career that began in Houston back in 2004. His journey has taken him from AAA to Lucha Underground to All Elite Wrestling with many stops in between.

Sammy’s first major championship victory came when he stunned fans by defeating Miro for the TNT Championship on late September episode of Dynamite. Guevara worked hard in and out of the ring to earn the honor. He overcame a lot of personal obstacles on his way.

Sammy Guevara lost that title to Cody Rhodes on last night’s Christmas episode of AEW Rampage. It was the first time he’s lost a major championship on national television. The young high-flyer is keeping things in perspective, according to a tweet he made reflecting on his reign as champ.

“What a beautiful life, 11 years of Blood, Sweat & Scars got me here. The ups and the downs, I wouldn’t change a thing.

It wasn’t my night but it doesn’t mean tomorrow won’t be. The journey continues.”

Fans were extremely upset with the result of the title match. Backlash against Cody Rhodes is at an all-time high. Sammy Guevara is keeping a level head. He knows bigger and better things are on the horizon.
