Rick Boogs was previously known as Eric Bugenhagen in WWE’s NXT brand. However, he was then called up to the main roster as he made his debut on Friday Night Smackdown back in May and immediately started being paired with Shinsuke Nakamura as Rick Boogs.

Many fans certainly enjoy Rick Boogs’ performances and the incredible amount of energy whenever he is on WWE television. He has a fan in Vince McMahon as well.

While speaking with GiveMeSport WWE, Rick Boogs talked about his journey in WWE. Boogs revealed that Vince McMahon ordered WWE higher ups to not tone down Rick Boogs.

“At first, it was funny. The first day we did it, I was more high energy than ever because I was fresh and the whole pandemic was going on, so we weren’t doing anything at the time too. I was just screaming my head off and going crazy. The higher-ups were like, ‘you’ve got to tone it down a little bit. Take it back a notch.’ I was like, ‘eh, we’ll see about that.’ I just kept it up and I heard that Vince wanted it. He was like, ‘no, just let him be himself.’ And then eventually, doing that over and over again and all that, I got a lot of people, especially when I got called up and I was in the locker room with everyone on the regular, they all stressed how much they appreciated the high energy.”

Rick Boogs also revealed that he had never met Shinsuke Nakamura prior to his entrance with Nakamura and their pairing remains one of the highlights of Friday Night Smackdown. We will have to see what’s next, but things seem to be working out very well so far.
