Bianca Belair has definitely left her mark on WWE with her signature hair whip. Belair was recently asked about the origins of her hair whip and she revealed the inspiration behind it. It turns out that Belair’s husband had a lot to do with her signature move.

While speaking to Kevin Kellam, Bianca Belair had a good time taking a stroll down memory lane. The EST of WWE said that it was her husband, Street Profit Montez Ford, who encouraged her to wear braids.

During her initial days in NXT, Belair had a hard time deciding what hair to rock. She was intimidated by how pretty her contemporaries were. She wanted to stand out in the crowd which was just the beginning of her hair whip story.

“My husband, Montez Ford, was the one who encouraged me to wear the braid because when I first came in, I was very new to the business, new to WWE, and new to wrestling. He explained to me that you want to stand out and be unique.”

“He told me to ‘Look at what everyone else is doing and do the opposite. Nobody else is wearing that long braid, and if anybody comes to a show for the first time, even if they don’t remember your name, they’ll remember the girl with the braid.’”

“I wore it at first as a signature look. I was in the ring one day and my coach, Sarah D’Amato was like, ‘If you’re going to wear that long braid, you might want to figure out how you can use it to your advantage, otherwise it’s going to be used to your disadvantage.’”

Her coach, Sarah D’Amato, was the person who gave her the idea to use the long braid as a weapon. In her first NXT road loop match, she threw her braid at the opponent. She initially did it thinking it might look cool and it was followed by a huge noise. This created a fan-favorite moment and Belair has whipped her hair ever since.

That cool move later turned into a great advantage for her. She is still figuring out more ways to use it, like tripping a girl or something. Only time will tell if she uses it to pull down another Women’s Title in WWE.
