Roman Reigns met Brock Lesnar in Saudi Arabia at WWE Crown Jewel, where he retained the Universal Championship. Since then, fans have been clamoring for a rematch between the Beast Incarnate and The Big Dog. Now, we have some idea of what those plans might entail.

In today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter update, it was revealed that WWE plans to have a series of matches between Reigns and Lesnar. Dave Meltzer reported on the current trajectory for the feud. It sounds like there will be several more to come.

“Regarding Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar as the main event for Day One, this is scheduled to be  a multi-match series and this being one of the matches in the series.”

Following the Day 1 matchup, the next logical place for a contest between Lesnar and Reigns would be the Royal Rumble. Brock Lesnar is scheduled to appear at that show. It’s a major WWE event and would be the most likely date, although nothing is confirmed.

The feud has continued recently on television. On Friday’s WWE SmackDown, Lesnar beat up Sami Zayn before a scheduled title match with Reigns. The bout ended in an easy victory for Roman, who defended his title.

There’s no word on how long WWE plans to keep the series going. As of now, the safe bet would be on a trilogy, with a possible WrestleMania match making a fourth. WWE Day 1 takes place on New Year’s Day.
