MJF is one of the biggest heels in AEW currently. As Maxwell Jacob Friedman appeared on Throwing Down with Renee & Miesha on Sirius XM, he discussed lot about his beef with CM Punk, his views on Adam Cole as well as his appreciation for The Miz.

Friedman talked to Renee Paquette, and told her that the beef with CM Punk is a matter of respect for him. He said that he tried and put his best foot forward, but instead of shaking his head, Punk chose to walk away. He even accused Punk of trying to steal the spotlight of younger talent.

CM Punk commented that Britt Baker should be the one to replace MJF as AEW’s four pillars. However, Baker’s partner Adam Cole has previously stated that if MJF even talks about Baker again, he would sock him in the face.

All respect to the Boom Boy. You know, Adam, Adam’s a great, great guy. I don’t have a problem with Adam. My problem is with Punk.

Punk compared The Miz with MJF, calling the AEW superstar a cheap The Miz knock off. MJF expressed that he considers The Miz to be a “tremendous, tremendous performer, [but] I am a professional wrestler.” When Paquette said that she is a great The Miz fan, MJF said:

How could you not be? The guy is gold on the stick. In the ring, very solid too. If I’m being completely fair here, I’m not talking shit – it’s just factual. There are no holes in my game. And that is not a jab at Miz. Miz is great. But he’s not me.

MJF said that many of the key figures in AEW such as Bryan Danielson, Kenny Omega and CM Punk are great, but they can’t do everything that MJF can. He even said that as his contract expires in 2024, Tony Khan might have to engage in greatest bidding war in the history of pro-wrestling if he doesn’t have the cash to back his demand for MJF up.
