Jay Lethal shocked AEW fans, debuting at the Full Gear pay-per-view event. The controversial wrestler then went on to have an excellent match with Sammy Guevara for the TNT Championship on the following Dynamite. His arrival and performance have excited a lot of fans, while others are disappointed with the company.

Lethal was one of Ring of Honor’s top talents when the company announced they were releasing their entire roster and taking hiatus. They’ve got one last show scheduled for December 11, but Jay Lethal won’t be there. He is signed full-time with AEW, according to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

“Lethal agreed to terms a few weeks ago for a full-time contract after ROH agreed to let anyone have a release early if they got an outside offer. Lethal is done with ROH and won’t be working the 12/11 Final Battle show in Baltimore.”

As more ROH stars sign with other companies, this might become a troubling trend. If there’s nobody with a big name left, the final ROH event loses a lot of its luster. Jay Lethal not being there is a huge blow, as he was such an integral part of the company’s history.

Lethal’s signing with AEW was met with skepticism by many fans. Previous accusations of sexual harassment resurfaced, noting the allegations seem to have faded away. Many fans who see AEW as the more progressive of the two major promotions were disappointed when he showed up.

Regardless of public opinion, Jay Lethal is now All Elite. Ring of Honor fans have seen the last of Lethal with the promotion, perhaps for good. Time will tell if Jay Lethal can hold up to the spotlight with such heat nipping at his heels.
