WWE may be making one last push to try and stop the reunification of The Undisputed Era on their biggest competition. The company may also be making one last effort to keep another NXT star around for another contract. Both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly are scheduled for tonight’s WWE SmackDown.

John Pollock of POST Wrestling broke the news this morning on Twitter. The duo is scheduled to work a dark match at tonight’s show from Evansville, Indiana. It is unknown if they are wrestling each other or if there is some other situation.

“Per sources – Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly are scheduled for a dark match tonight in Evansville at the Smackdown tapings”

WWE is known for gauging crowd reactions for new talent by using them in dark matches. They may want to see of two of NXT’s biggest superstars have what it takes for a shot at the main roster. Of course, it could also just be a concession to the wrestlers.

Johnny Gargano’s WWE contract expires on December 3. Kyle O’Reilly’s deal is up in December as well. Unless they are released before those contracts expire, there is no 30-day non-compete. Both sides will have fulfilled their contractual obligations and the deal will be complete.

Kyle O’Reilly was a member of the popular Undisputed Era faction in NXT. His stablemates, Adam Cole and Bobby Fish are currently signed with AEW. Roderick Strong was also a later member of the group.
