For many fans, CM Punk’s debut at AEW Rampage: The First Dance is one of the greatest moments in the company’s history and it is hard to argue why. To add to that, his debut might even make it to Guinness World Records. Now it seems CM Punk wanted to participate in the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament.

For many years fans wondered if he will ever go back to WWE, but it seems CM Punk had absolutely no intention of ever doing so as it was never on the table. Samoa Joe always knew CM Punk was going to make his pro wrestling return as well.

Ever since CM Punk came back, he has faced off against many young and upcoming talent including Darby Allin, Daniel Garcia and more. While he certainly has had solid matches with most of them, Punk simply has not had any high profile matches in a long time.

While speaking to Christopher Walker of DAZN, CM Punk talked about not being included in the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament. Punk admitted that he would have loved to participate in the tournament. Punk added that he believed he could have fit into the tournament somehow.

“I would have loved to have been a part of it. Looking at the field and seeing the names that that that were in it, I definitely think I could have fit in there. It’ll come. You know, it’s not my time but it’ll come at a later date. Looking at the bigger picture of things, the map that I have laid out in front of me, I know all the destinations. You know, there’s so many people I wanna get in the ring with but knowing how much time I have, I know I’m going to get to all of them people.”

CM Punk is currently scheduled to square off against Bobby Fish on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. It is certain to be a great match, so it remains to be seen who will come out on top. We will also have to wait and see if Punk will ever enter the AEW World Title scene or not one day.
