CM Punk took the pro wrestling world by storm after making his debut on last week’s AEW Rampage: The First Dance. In fact, his debut might even make it to Guinness World Records. Ringside News exclusively reported that there were zero talks going on between Punk and WWE and he just confirmed our report.

CM Punk left WWE after the Royal Rumble in 2014 on a very sour note and essentially burned bridges with them. Punk had made it clear that he never wanted to go back to pro wrestling, though his words did not age well.

For many years fans wondered if he will ever go back to WWE, but it seems CM Punk had absolutely no intention of ever doing so from the looks of it.

While speaking to The Angi Taylor Show. CM Punk said that he didn’t even think making a return to pro wrestling was possible before AEW’s inception. Punk also added that he had no intention of ever going back to WWE.

“I don’t think I considered it. Three years ago, five years ago I don’t think AEW even existed. I don’t think going back to WWE was ever really, logically, on the table.

And I say ‘the place I used to work’ (WWE), because I don’t feel it’s specifically necessary to mention them when I don’t have to. I am full of anxiety and stress doing press for AEW right now that I’m inadvertently going to say a whole bunch of stupid stuff

CM Punk has singlehandedly has brought back a significant amount of interest in pro wrestling again and it will be interesting to see how AEW will carry on with the momentum in the coming weeks.

h/t to Wrestling Inc for the quotes.
