Shawn Michaels Reacts To Carmelo Hayes’ WWE NXT North American Title Win

After cashing in his Breakout Tournament contract for a shot at the NXT North American championship, Carmelo Hayes quickly pinned Isaiah “Swerve” Scott and won the title. Scott was winded from his successful title defense against Santos Escobar, and the new champ took advantage.

Hayes hopped on Twitter after his celebration ended to put over the title. “I’m about to turn this into the A Championship. I said what I said,” Hayes tweeted. Today, he posted a backstage photo with WWE Hall of Famer and current NXT Producer Shawn Michaels.

Normally, it would be Triple H posing with a new title holder in NXT, but given his recent health issues, he may not have been there. Nevertheless, Carmelo was thrilled for the photo op.

The Heartbreak Kid also tweeted to the new champ, Congratulating Hayes on his title win.

“The cross section of opportunity and preparation… SUCCESS! Congratulations to the NEW #NXTNATitle champion… @Carmelo_WWE! #WWENXT”

The next big NXT card is Halloween Havoc airing on USA on October 26 in the normal NXT timeslot. We still aren’t sure who Hayes will be defending the title against, but hopefully his reign has more defenses than Swerve’s single victory.
