Fuego Del Sol worked hard to get a contract with AEW. He made a ton of trips to Jacksonville without much more promised to him other than an opportunity. He is also Sammy Guevara’s friend, so that helped out tremendously as well. After seeing how the company is using him, Konnan has to wonder why anyone cares.
During Keepin’ It 100, Konnan provided a recap of AEW’s programming for the week. When doing so, he addressed Fuego Del Sol and wondered why people should care about his on-screen character. Then he pointed out the multiple acts who are now paired up with their real-life friends on Tony Khan’s television project.
“Now before this happened, Sammy buys this guy — Fuego Del Sol — a truck. What’s the deal with this Fuego, dude? Why should we even care about him? Okay, so you’re Sammy’s friend and you already got your job. Now he got you a truck, so what’s next,? An engagement ring?”
“What was it at the end, he come to help him as if anybody cared? Sammy is with Fuego, Nakazawa is with Omega, and Brandon Cutler’s is with Young Bucks. Does everybody just bring their friend now to the wrestling matches, and they become part of angles? You get them jobs and trucks, what’s going on here?”
AEW will keep doing their thing and Tony Khan seems to like the direction they’re going. Fuego Del Sol might not get a diamond ring out of Guevara, but he did get a contract with AEW after grinding so hard on a per-appearance deal. Let’s see if Tony Khan can book Fuego in a way that will make Konnan care.
