WWE released Lana from her contract and that was a surprise for a lot of fans. She was still being used on television, but then her release meant CJ Perry needed to wait 90 days before appearing anywhere. She has already teased AEW in a huge way, and Perry might be able to keep her WWE name.

While taking part in a East Coast Autograph Auctions virtual signing, Lana was asked about her WWE name. Apparently, WWE does not own the name “Lana,” and she might want to go as that name in the future.

“I own that. Owning ‘Lana’ is like owning the name ‘Mike.’ You can’t. In my contract, they own Rusev because it’s so specific, but they don’t own Lana because you can’t.”

“I would rather come out as Lana because at the end of the day, I would rather just not come out with my real name.”

WWE owns “Rusev,” which is why Miro had to switch things up. Lana is apparently a different story, so that might present a very interesting situation if and when she shows up elsewhere.

Miro just dropped the TNT Title to Sammy Guevara, and that could open up a brand new chapter for him in AEW. We’ll have to see where the chips fall, but Lana might make her way to an AEW ring soon enough.
