WWE introduced a new nickname for Keith Lee after he remained off television for weeks. He is now Keith “Bearcat” Lee, a tribute to Bearcat Wright, and that nickname isn’t going away.

Keith Lee was very open about his time away from the ring. It took him some time to collect his thoughts, but Lee was able to tell all about his fight with COVID-19 and the terrible heart inflammation that caused him to literally fight for his life.

WWE must like the Bearcat nickname, because they locked it down with a trademark on October 1st, just days after Keith Lee debuted the name on television. The new “Bearcat” trademark is filed in the way that most pro wrestling trademarks are listed. You can check out the details below:

“BEARCAT™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

WWE wanted Adam Cole to be Keith Lee’s heel manager. We’ll never know what that team could have been all about, but Keith Lee is now on his own and squashing opponents as he goes. He is also heel and having a good time with that new imposing character. Now the Bearcat name will stick with him for a long time to come.
