Adam Cole is now right at home in AEW, and now The Elite is complete. WWE had a pitch for him prior to his departure. Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE wanted to make Adam Cole a heel manager on the main roster. This report was just confirmed.

Dave Meltzer confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE wanted to turn Adam Cole into a heel manager. He also mentioned that they wanted to pair him up with Keith Lee.

“They were going to bring Adam Cole up, and turn Keith Lee heel and make Adam Cole his manager.”

It was also noted that WWE would have probably changed Cole’s name to avoid confusion with Michael Cole. They wanted to go with a “Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush” concept with a smaller guy who could talk and hide behind a huge client.

Obviously, Adam Cole didn’t like that idea, so he passed on the suggestion and made his way to AEW instead. It might have been fun to see Keith Lee and Adam Cole working together, but becoming a manager is not what Cole wanted for his career.
