AEW Grand Slam went down this week and they brought huge show to Arthur Ashe Stadium. The venue was sold out and they weren’t really prepared for so many fans. It was still a historic day in company history.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the AEW Grand Slam event. He noted how it broke a company attendance record, but it also saw them capture a spot on another impressive list.

“The gate would have been the third largest non-WWE gate in the history of pro wrestling in the United States. Attendance-wise it’s the biggest for a non-WWE event since 1999.”


Those numbers are very impressive as AEW continues building momentum. We’ll have to see what’s next for Tony Khan’s company, but they certainly captured a ton of attention in New York City this week.
