Becky Lynch’s SummerSlam return was the result of changed plans changing and then changing again. The company originally intended for The Man to take on a role at WrestleMania, and she was even there backstage. The plans did not materialize and the company held off on her return.

While speaking to Alex McCarthy, Becky Lynch revealed that she was supposed to face Bayley at WrestleMania. Many fans thought that was the case since Bayley was featured in a non-wrestling role on both nights and the Bella Twins had a little bit with her on night two where she took a bump for them.

McCarthy wrote on Twitter to explain a brief synopsis of what Big Time Becks said about her scrapped return.

Becky Lynch just told me she was originally good to go for WrestleMania and it was discussed she’d face Bayley. That didn’t happen (obviously) and then she was meant to return in October before WWE called her the week of SummerSlam. Pretty upset didn’t get Lynch v Bayley

We’re enjoying Becky Lynch’s return prior to when WWE planned it as well. They pushed her return to the WWE Draft, but an absent Sasha Banks called for them to revisit the idea of having Becky Lynch return at SummerSlam.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
