Adam Cole’s contributions to NXT after making his debut back in 2017 cannot be understated. He competed in several of the brand’s best matches and helped shape NXT for 4 years.

Adam Cole was done with NXT after TakeOver 36 and shortly after that, Adam Cole’s WWE contract also expired, making him free agent. On top of that, he didn’t sign another contract with WWE.

In the end, Adam Cole decided that he wanted to be All Elite and so made his debut at AEW All Out and utterly shocked the pro wrestling world to its core. During his debut promo, Adam Cole also addressed Tony Schiavone’s friendship with Cole’s real-life girlfriend Britt Baker. It seems there is more to this story than initially thought.

While speaking on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Tony Schiavone revealed that he had to remind Adam Cole to call him a nerd during their heated promo on AEW Dynamite.

“Adam got with me and said, ‘We need to address this on camera.’ I said, ‘Yea, we do.’ We talked through what we were going to say. He said, ‘I’m going to call you a nerd. Fans are going to pop because they know that I am really a nerd.’ He went out, and he told me to get out, but he didn’t say nerd. So I’m standing there, and he said , ‘Get out.’ I said, ‘Nerd (in a low voice).’ He then said, ‘Get out nerd’, so I reminded him to say nerd. We go to the back, and Tony (Khan) said, ‘You didn’t get out quick enough. If he’s threatening you, you need to get out quicker.’ I said, ‘There was a line that he was not hitting, so I was waiting for him to hit the line, nerd, so I had to tell him that.” I don’t know if it came across for me saying nerd first to him, but that’s how it went. In reality, he is one of the nicest, young men that I have met.”

Adam Cole had a solid in-ring debut on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. He is set to team up with The Young Bucks and square off against Christian Cage and The Jurassic Express on next week’s episode of AEW Rampage. We will have to wait and see who will come out on top in the match.
