WWE brought SmackDown to Madison Square Garden this week and that came with some excitement backstage. Ringside News exclusively reported that Vince McMahon was backstage this week, and Fightful Select has confirmed our report. They also said that the atmosphere backstage was a positive one.

It was reported that those in WWE feel that the company “hit a homerun” with their return to MSG. They did have to cut a segment and a match from the show, but there was a noticeable contrast between the atmosphere before the Madison Square Garden show and other television events.

One WWE source near creative said that they fully believe the company is capable of putting on these kinds of shows regularly, it’s just a matter of getting through to those of influence that this is the type of event that the audience wants to see regularly.

We previously confirmed that Vince McMahon was at the show, and so was Stephanie McMahon. It was also reported that the “Gorilla Position was busy during and ahead of the MSG show” and they had a screening of the company’s 9/11 documentary as well.
