Tonight’s SmackDown takes place in the legendary Madison Square Garden and headlining SmackDown tonight is the SmackDown return of Brock Lensar.

SmackDown tonight will also feature the contract signing for the SmackDown Women’s Championship match at Extreme Rules between Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair.

SmackDown

SmackDown starts out with a tribute video in remembrance of the September 11th tragedy with footage of the historic SmackDown show from 2001.

SmackDown is live in the Garden with Michael Cole and a returning Pat McAfee on commentary. The show begins with Universal Champion Roman Reigns making his way to the ring with Paul Heyman and The Usos by his side.

In the ring Reigns says that WWE runs New York, and Reigns runs WWE, therefore Reigns runs New York. As the Bloodline poses in the ring with their titles, Brock Lesnar makes his way out. Lesnar gets in the ring and immediately stares down Reigns. The Usos step in to face Lesnar. Heyman asks Lesnar, why he chose to go after the Universal title. Lesnar steals the mic and asks Heyman why he didn’t tell Reigns he was going to be at SummerSlam. Reigns approaches Heyman as Heyman insists he had no idea. Reigns takes the title belt from Heyman and leaves the ring with The Usos soon following. WIth just Lesnar and Heyman left in the ring, Heyman gives his usual Brock Lesnar introduction promo which the fans join in on. Lesnar tells Heyman it was great and just like old times. Lesnar says before Reigns fires Heyman, Lesnar tells Heyman to accept his challenge, Lesnar challenges Reigns for the Universal title and tells Heyman he has five seconds and begins to count. Heyman fails to answer and Lesnar picks Heyman up for an F5. Reigns runs in to hit a Superman punch, Lesnar then picks up Reigns but The Usos run in to save Reigns. As Reigns escapes, Lesnar takes out both Usos to stand alone in the ring.

Back live with the bloodline walking backstage. Heyman is stopped and interviewed. Heyman nervously says that Reigns will answer Lesnar’s challenge when he deems it appropriate.

Big E, King Nakamura, Rick Boogs, Rey & Dominik Mysterio vs Apollo Crews, Robert Roode, Dolph Ziggler, Otis and Sami Zayn

Before the match, Zayn introduces Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young to huge heat from the crowd.

Nakamura and Roode start off the match. Otis comes in to throw Nakamura outside the ring. Otis stands on Nakamura’s ribs back in the ring. Otis hits a corner splash.

*Commercial break*

The match continues live with Nakamura and Zayn in the ring. Nakamura make the tag to Rey who hits a sunset flip. Crews runs in and hits an enziguri and then everyone gets in the ring to get their spot in on the other team. Eventually Rey goes for a 619 on Roode but Zayn trips Rey up in the ropes. Trae Young attacks Rey as the official was distracted. The ref turns and sees Trae and ejects him from ringside to a gigantic pop from the crowd. Rey hits a huricanrana to the ropes and tags in Dominik to hit a double 619. Big E hits the big ending and covers Zayn for the three.

Winners: Big E, King Nakamura, Rick Boogs, Dominik & Rey Mysterio

After the match, Big E is interviewed and he holds up the Money in the Bank briefcase and says it might not be the last time he is out there tonight.

Bianca Belair makes her way out to the ring as her contract signing with Becky Lynch is promoted as up next.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Belair in the ring with Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville. Pearce hands the contract to Beliar. Belair gets on the mic and says she respects Lynch and says she’d never run for a fight, but she says things may have changed. Belair says Lynch can win back some respect while Belair wins back her championship. Belair signs the contract and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch makes her way out to the ring. Lynch sits down and says that the original WrestleMania main eventer has arrived. Lynch says she saw how starstruck Belair was when Lynch came out. lynch says she would give Belair the match when she was ready. Lynch asks what if she doesn’t sign the contract. Deville and Pearce insist she sign the contract as Belair gets aggressive in telling Lynch to sign the contract, which initiates a crowd chant. Lynch says she saved everything at SummerSlam and she is upset the crowd is favoring Belair over her. Lynch finally signs the contract and throws it at Belair and leaves the ring.

Edge makes his way out for his SummerSlam rematch against Seth Rollins.

Edge vs Seth Rollins

The match begins with a lock up. Edge hits a take down and Rollins hits a drop kick to Edge’s knees. Edge sends Rollins to the corner with a drop toe hold. Edge throws Rollins shoulder-first into the ring post. Rollins drags Edge out of the ring and throws Edge into the barricade. Edge goes for a spear but Rollins hits a knee to the head. Rollins hits a running knee to Edge’s back to knock him out of the ring. Rollins hits a dive to Edge on the outside.

*Commercial break*

The match returns live with Rollins throwing Edge to the barricade. Rollins throws Edge back in the ring and hits a springboard flying knee and covers for two. Rollins hits a leg whip to take Edge down as Edge holds his knee. Rollins dodges an Ezgiguri from Edge. Rollins hits the Glam Slam move made famous by Beth Phoenix. Rollins hits a second Glam Slam and covers for two. Rollins goes for a pedigree but Edge escapes and eventually hits a pedigree of his own to cover for two. Edge goes to the top rope and hits a dive to Rollins outside of the ring.

*Commercial break*

Back live with Edge hitting a full nelson slam and Edge covers for a two count. Edge goes up top but Rollins runs up. Edge blocks the superplex and slams Rollins to the mat. Edge jumps down and Edge rolls through to put Rollins in the cross face. Rollins makes it to the ropes to force a break. Edge hits a DDT and goes for a spear but Rollins counters into a neck breaker. Edge counters the stomp to hit a power bomb and cover for two. Edge puts Rollins on the top rope and climbs up. Rollins rolls through to pick Edge up and hit a buckle bomb. Edge hits a spear out of nowhere and covers for a two count. Rollins drags Edge to the corner and as the ref is distracted Rollins hits a low blow and follows it up with a super kick. Rollins hits a second super kick to Edge on his knees. Rollins hits another super kick and hits the stomp. Rollins slowly goes for a cover for three.

Winner: Seth Rollins

After the bell, Rollins slowly drags himself to the corner as the ref calls for the medical team to come out with a stretcher.

SmackDown returns with Edge being wheeled to the back and loaded into an ambulance. As the ambulance leaves Rollins is seen watching. Rollins is interviewed and he says he doesn’t know he’s supposed to feel and that maybe he doesn’t feel anything at all.

Reigns is talking to The Usos backstage as Reigns hypes up The Usos for their upcoming tag team title defense. Reigns tell Heyman that he saved him and again asks why he didn’t tell Reigns that Lesnar was at SummerSlam.

SmackDown Tag Team Championships

The Street Profits vs The Usos

Our championship match begins with Ford immediately hitting a drop kick to Jimmy. Jimmy knocks Ford outside the ring off a distraction and hits a dive to Ford on the outside.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown returns with Dawkins hitting a shoulder tackle. Dawkins is hit with an uppercut from Jimmy. Jey tags in and is hit with a drop kick. Jey hits a shoulder tackle and tags in Jimmy. Jey makes the quick tag back in and goes for a leg drop but Dawkins rolls away. Dawkins hits a lariat to send each Uso over the top rope. Ford hits a dive over the top rope to both Usos. Reigns and Heyman walk out as The Usos are outside the ring.

*Commercial break*

SmackDown returns with Dawkins hitting a neck breaker to Jey. Ford and Jimmy are tagged in. Ford hits a cross body and covers for two. Ford kicks Jey so hard his show flies off, Ford then hits a drop kick and suplex for a two count. Ford tags in Dawkins. Street Profits hits a doomsday like tag team move and Dawkins covers for two. Jey makes a blind tag and hits a super kick and gets a two count. Jimmy is tagged in and The Usos hit super kicks and Jey hits the frog splash and covers for a two count. Dawkins hits a right hand and Ford tags in. Jimmy makes the tag and Ford hits his top rope splash. Ford covers but Reigns runs in to put Ford in the guillotine submission to cause the DQ.

Winners by Disqualification: The Street Profits

After the match Reigns grabs a mic and says that if Brock Lesnar wants it, he will get it. Reigns says he will smash Lesnar after he’s done smashing Finn Balor. The lights go out and Demon Finn Balor makes his way out. Balor makes the demon entrance and goes to the ring. Demon Balor stands in the ring across from the Bloodline. Balor and Reigns stare down as SmackDown goes off the air.
