Ric Flair requested his WWE release and it was granted without any non-compete clause attached. This gave the National Wrestling Alliance the perfect opportunity to book the Nature Boy for their big show, and he gladly accepted.

Flair showed up at the NWA 73 pay-per-view and he received some time on the microphone. That included by the two-time WWE Hall of Famer speaking his mind about the people he left behind in WWE. He had nothing but good things to say.

“Just like Triple H picked me up, just like Shawn picked me up, just like Taker picked me up, just like Austin picked me up, just like everybody. Vince McMahon, I love you, thank you, that’s why I’m here. That’s why I’m here. You know what? Vince McMahon isn’t gonna watch this, but he’s gonna hear about it.”

After that, Ric Flair said he “may have a drink” with Tony Khan. Woooo!

Vince McMahon historically doesn’t watch any pro wrestling that his company doesn’t produce. Ric Flair’s appearance at the NWA 73 pay-per-view might not get McMahon’s viewership, but it will likely land in his ear.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
