Pat McAfee took over a position on the SmackDown commentary team back in April. The former NFL punter has been spoken highly of by Michael Cole. It appears for at least this week Cole will be without his partner.

On the Pat McAfee show it was revealed that McAfee was in quarantine after having a fever of 104.5. Along with the high fever, it was later announced that McAfee tested positive for COVID-19.

While not officially confirmed, it is believed that McAfee will not be at the SmackDown commentary desk this Friday. He will be quarantined, so it is very likely that Vince McMahon’s company will find a replacement, for at least this week. WWE has yet to make any public statement on McAfee or name a commentary replacement.

McAfee sent out a tweet with photographic evidence. He is fully vaccinated, yet he tested positive for the dreaded virus.

Fully Vax’d. Very Positive. Aht Indefinitely. It’s miserable but thankful that my wife and the boys at the office all took tests and they are all negative.. This is obviously a sign from the universe, probably telling me that I stink & to stay home for a while. I’ll see yinz

McAfee tweeted out that he had tested positive. McAfee said he was “Aht (out) indefinitely.” We will have to see how long that hiatus will last.

McAfee would also mentioned that everyone he had worked with and his wife have all tested negative. Our thoughts are with him as he fights to recover.
