Samoa Joe returned to NXT as an authority figure, and he wasn’t allowed to get physical unless he was provoked. It didn’t take long at all for Karrion Kross to do plenty of provoking. The two finally collided in a dream match in the main event of NXT TakeOver: 36.

The Capitol Wrestling Center was pumped as they witnessed this long-awaited match. Kross and Joe had an intense battle full of trading stiff shots and submission holds. Karrion Kross was able to turn a Coquina Clutch from Joe into a Kross Jacket of his own, but Joe got out of the hold and the match continued.

Samoa Joe then hit a Muscle Buster, a move that was previously banned on the main roster after TJ Wilson suffered his career-ending injury. All it took was one pinfall and Joe became the first three-time NXT Champion in history.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
