Two-time WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair shocked the pro wrestling world when he requested his release from WWE earlier this month. It was previously said that Ric Flair wants one more in-ring run, and he has teased that on numerous occasions.

Ric Flair uploaded a photo of himself showing off his gains at the gym and also declared in post that he will never retire. That photo was actually of The Nature Boy, unlike that NSFW photo that blew up the internet recently. TripleMania XXIX even featured surprise appearance from Ric Flair, who accompanied Andrade El Idolo to the ring.

While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Ric Flair stated that he was very happy during his time in WWE, but ultimately left the company as he knew he would never be allowed certain opportunities he Flair stayed there.

“I have the greatest, fondest memories from my time with WWE. Vince [McMahon] has helped me become the man I am. And it’s not just Vince, it’s also Hunter [Paul “Triple H” Levesque] and Stephanie [McMahon]. I have so many friends there. They’ve been so good to me. But it was time. I simply wanted to be able to do more. They have a vision for their company, which they should have. And they were respectful enough for me to have a vision for my future, too. Look at what I did this past weekend with Andrade and Kenny Omega. They never could have let me do that, which I understand,”

Ric Flair had no non-compete clause after his WWE release and he used that to full effect as Flair is set to return to the NWA later on this month. We will have to wait and see if he will also go to AEW to be with Andrade El Idolo.
