WWE’s Plan For Another ‘Larger Scale’ Round Of Roster Cuts

WWE axed a lot of people from their roster in recent memory, with one huge round of releases in NXT. It was also recently reported that releases should become a regular thing in WWE.

Bray Wyatt’s release from the company was a major shock, but those surprises are likely to continue. WWE President Nick Khan and CFO Kristina Salen continue efforts to cut costs, and it doesn’t seem to matter how many third parties they upset with their decisions.

During the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, Andrew Zarian stated that another big set of releases is likely coming by the end of 2021. He specifically used the term “larger scale” for a reason.

“I put out a tweet, ‘more is coming,’ I was told, this was a couple weeks ago, that there are going to be two more releases coming like, on a larger scale. This was one, so I’m assuming that there is another one by the end of the year.”

It was noted that “I was told there are going to be two sets of releases.” Ric Flair’s situation was more of a “I want out” situation than a release that WWE planned.

The plan is to “close the roster down a little bit, so they can focus on talent.” There is a lot of talent on the roster, and it is much easier to write for a smaller roster of talent. It would be a good idea to expect more cuts from WWE and NXT as the company continues to trim down their rosters.
