Cain Velasquez, two-time UFC heavyweight champion, made his debut in WWE during the first episode of Friday Night Smackdown on FOX back in 2019.

He immediately began a feud with Brock Lesnar, who was the WWE Champion at the time. However, his run in the company turned out to be very short and not memorable whatsoever.

While speaking on the In This Corner podcast with Cyrus Fees, Velasquez talked about his time working in WWE. Velasques stated that he needed more time to develop in the company, but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented that from happening.

”The scenario I was in, that moment, not having any experience in that world. When COVID hit, I couldn’t go anymore. You need to develop in this sport. If you want a certain product out of me that I can produce, you have to give me time. I just needed time and needed to be in there and practicing to make it second nature to where I wasn’t thinking when I’m out there. I wasn’t there yet and I was thinking so much and you could tell I was thinking. It’s just developing. The Lucha is a different style and it translates for me a lot better and smoother.”

Velasquez is already set to make his return to pro wrestling as he will be working an AAA show in December. It is unknown whether he will ever return to WWE at this point in time.
