WWE brought Mickie James back in 2016, but it was not in a way she would have preferred. Instead of returning as a masked woman trying to get one over on Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch, she really wanted to be Hardcore Country once again.

While La Luchadora was fun, because Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, and Deonna Purrazzo all played that role at one time or another, it is not the gimmick Mickie James had in mind for herself. She wanted to bring more of her Hardcore Country gimmick to WWE, something she started in Impact Wrestling.

While speaking to Wrestling Inc, Mickie James admitted that she believes Hardcore Country could have made a lot of money for everyone involved.

“In hindsight, I wish I’d shown up as ‘Hardcore Country’ Mickie James. I think she would have made a lot of money.”

Mickie James became a 3-time Knockouts Champion for Impact Wrestling, but she never picked up another title with her return run in WWE. She is already a 6-time Women’s Champion in WWE, but another run on top didn’t come around for Mickie James this time. Perhaps, Hardcore Country would have won the title again, but we’ll never know at this point.

Where do you think Mickie James will arrive next? Will she stay with the NWA or go back to Impact? Sound off in the comments!
