Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy were a solid tag team in NXT and they won titles and Match of the Year nods in the process. Alexa Bliss was the team’s manager in NXT, but a main roster call-up came for her far before Blake and Murphy. That was a hard loss to take for that team and it resulted in their disbanding.

While talking to Wrestling Inc, Wesley Blake discussed WWE’s decision to split Bliss up from his team. It was understandable, because Bliss wanted to be a star. That singles run amounted to a lot of success for the Five Feet of Fury, but Blake and Murphy were left in NXT and their team was then split up without Alexa Bliss leading them to the ring.

“I guess it’s just what creative wanted. Once we dropped the NXT Tag Titles, they wanted to split Alexa away from us, so she could have her singes run. We were very happy for her because we knew she was going to be star. And so, we were still tagging but not getting any traction. We weren’t having any storylines on NXT, and then they slowly started putting us in singles matches. At one point, we were at odds and unsure if we’re still a team or not. And then eventually, they said Samoa Joe was going to come lay us out during a match. At the time, Buddy and I pitched the idea of wrestling each other, in a best-of-three or best-of-five series. But they didn’t want that. So, I just started doing my Beautiful Blake character and he moved onto 205 Live.”

Blake and Murphy are not giving up the idea that they will team again. Blake said “absolutely,” to the idea of tagging with Murphy again. He also confirmed that the two keep in contact with each other.

We’ll have to see what’s in the future for Blake and Murphy. They could end up in the same company and have another run as tag team champions someday. Alexa Bliss won’t be hard to find either as she remains a centerpiece on WWE programming to this day.
