Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville kicked off Raw this week when it was revealed that “due to circumstances” outside of their control, Randy Orton couldn’t compete in tonight’s big triple threat match. They declared that an over the top rope battle royal would decide Orton’s replacement.

Matt Riddle came in and volunteered to take Orton’s place. He wanted to win the last chance triple threat match for Orton and then The Viper could take his place at Money in the Bank.

Matt Riddle already has a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match, but he wanted to wrestle and win a spot for his RKBro tag team partner. As soon as Riddle made his entrance, the battle royal match started.

It was not made clear why Randy Orton couldn’t make it to Raw this week. They made it work with the storyline despite his absence.
