During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about Jungle Boy. He stated that AEW wanted to go with his push while Chris Jericho was AEW World Champion, but a pandemic got in the way. Now they are going from zero to sixty in a hurry with his push.

“One of the things with him was, a year ago — I remember a year ago — it was like, ‘we’re gonna push him, but we’re gonna wait for crowds,’ and now here’s crowds and they went all the way, right away. He’s always been, I mean it’s not like he’s not on the list to be pushed. I mean the reality is that if there were crowds, you know if was gonna do a program with Jericho when Jericho was world champion. That ended up not happening because we had a pandemic. Now Jericho is long gone as champion.”

Now the company has a chance to pull the trigger on his push and that appears to be exactly what they are doing. Live crowds will likely be singing his entrance music for a long time to come.
