Drake Wuertz has been released from WWE. He made several headlines over the past several months as he continuously spread QAnon conspiracy theories.

According to Sean Sapp, Wuertz was released from WWE today. He was the subject of a “growing concern” within the company, but he’s not the only cut that the company is handing down today.

Word among talent and staff at the WWE Performance Center is that referee Drake Wuertz has been let go. I’ve reached out to WWE for a confirmation on this, and clarity on the situation.

Wuertz was known as a deathmatch wrestler prior to entering WWE. The company signed him in 2014 as a referee. He was a good referee and gained responsibilities backstage as well. Then he started gaining even more attention over his political activities.

He missed NXT couple of weeks ago to attend a school board meeting to argue about mask mandates. Ironically, someone edited his Wikipedia page very recently to note that he was fired over his political views. Wuertz was on NXT last night and officiated a match.

We will continue monitoring this ongoing situation here at Ringside News.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
